Hi Everyone, this blog post is from Liz your social media coordinator for TLH. A couple of years ago I attended Lindystock for the first time and I wanted to share my experience with you, along with some pictures.

I will be honest (might as well start it off with a truth bomb)…. Lindystock was NOT something that interested me when I first heard about the event. Camping is fun for about 5 mins for me, bugs most importantly spiders are my least favorite things on the planet and I have NO camping clothes because well..I don’t camp. So Lindystock was a nope for me for quite some time. UNTIL my husband convinced me that we should at least go ONCE since we are on the TLH team and I spend all day long posting on why you should go when I have never been myself. So I agreed, we bought our tickets and camping clothes then we headed off to the Wolf Den Lodge for the weekend.

And here we go….

The drive up was a lot of fun when you have games and good company (Thanks Irene & Jay), plus the scenery as you get out of the city is so pretty (no condos in sight).

As we arrived at Wolf Den Lodge my exceptions of a scary cabin in the woods with spiders all around it, were replaced with a really fantastic sight..Wolf Den Lodge and it’s surrounding area is beautiful!

The Accommodations:

My husband and I stayed in the main lodge in a very comfortable room with access to very clean washrooms and showers. From what I heard from others who stayed in the outer cabins, they were equally as happy.

The Food:

The food was delicious, oh so yummy (not your typical camp food that is for sure) and the Food Team accommodates every single person and their dietary needs. So if your nervous because you are a vegan, or allergic to something, do not fear LS organizers will ensure you are taken care of. There is also lots of food, so you never go hungry (there was even late night snacks). Lastly about the cooking, everyone helps out with a food shift ONE time while at LS and then after you were done..you were done. It was easy and another great way to get to know fellow attendees and feel like you were truly part of the event.

The Activities:

You are NEVER BORED at Lindystock ever…there was activities happening constantly and you could chose to participate in them or not participate in them, totally up to you. I participated half the time and the other half of the time I hung out at the dock (more on that in a bit).

Events included The Friday Nights Tiki Party.

There was a Painting competition event (not sure of the name now), that was a highlight of the weekend (note that events can differ from year to year).

The Water Regatta – I went and cheered on the troupe that came out to participate.

Hikes and a hike to the waterfall. The Waterfall is really fun and will be a guaranteed highlight of your weekend. I am not really a hiker so climbing the rocks to get there was truly out of my element and I might of freaked out a couple of times. However once I was there I was so thrilled because it was really beautiful and tons of fun and I was proud that I stuck it out.

Campfires (with hotdogs and marshmallows and maybe a song or 2 or 3 or 4).

The Dock-The new dock was the place where I hung out and chatted with friends (new and old), did a bit of swimming, sleeping, laughing and chilling. It was truly my fav hangout spot.

Sooooo relaxed.

There is also a SUPER AWESOME Variety Show on the Sunday Night. I really enjoyed this event, everyone really got into it (including me and I tend to not be too much of a joiner).

And lets not forget about the Late Night Parties. Dancing till 4am or longer! Lindy Hop, Blues, Dancing that has no name (probably for a good reason). When you enter the Party Zone you enter to dance all night long!

We danced till we passed out. Please note that I’M STILL DANCING (that is me in the shorts), others did not make it.

And of course there is just plenty of time to hangout and chat, sleep, count stars or break out some air guitar. The weekend is yours to do what you wish with it.

My Final Notes: Lindystock was so welcoming, fun, relaxing, and a great escape from Toronto and I truly surprised myself by having such a marvelous time. I am really glad that my husband convinced me to go and I was even a bit sad driving away.
